To whoever contrived of boat backpacking—many thanks to you from myself and my legs. A few summers ago, a handful of friends and I were presented with the wonderful opportunity to explore Ross Lake. After a short hike and jet boat ride into the resort, a fleet of dainty fishing boats equipped with small but feisty outboard motors were presented to us to pick from. These rickity vessels allowed us to poot across the lake to explore waterfalls, bridges, hunt for mushrooms, and write many memories without punishing our legs.
After a couple days, half the group split off. JT, Silas, and I ended up checking off one more lake in the Northern Cascades and called it a weekend after we got rained out. Thank you JT’s old CVT tent for keeping us dry and cozy.
